Cleveland Browns

Feeling pretty good about our Monday night win against the Giants, I felt like we could compete against the Redskins. And then I woke up.

The Offense: Ryan Tucker didn't play, some of the offense didn't show up, and we couldn't move the ball. At one point, I think DA was 3-21 passing. At half time, Portis had more yards than the entire Browns' offense. It was pathetic. From a football stand point, the game was tough to watch, unless you like to watch the punters. Furthermore, DA couldn't throw the ball into an ocean. And when DA was somewhat accurate, Braylon Edwards forgot how to catch a ball. The inconsistencies reminded me of Pop Warner football or poorly-coached high school football.

The Defense: It's tough to bash the defense because it's difficult to be competitive when you're on the field most of the game. Eventually, fatigue sets in. Call it what you want...fatigue, disappointment because the offense doesn't move or hold on to the ball, losing confidence in the game plan, other players, or coaches...it all sucks. When the ship is sailing smoothly, everyone is happy. However, when rough water hinders our goal, some of us quit. Some players fail to shed off blocks, others tackle too high, and some look overmatched. I'm tired of the excuses. Excuses are like butt holes. Everyone has them, and they both stink. We were lucky to only lose 14-11.

Coaching: I could complain all day, but I will focus on one issue--end of game decisions. I can't blame Phil Dawson for missing that kick; I blame the coaching. Towards the end of the game, we had a 2nd and 1. Instead of going to the end zone, DA ran a QB sneak. Great. We got the first down and did nothing. What we really needed was at least 5 yards, turning Dawson's 53/54-yard kick into a 48/49. I believe that is more manageable for Dawson. Instead, we throw down field. Why? We didn't go for the TD. We didn't complete an out to stop the clock. It seemed useless. Furthermore, we did a poor job executing our plays all day long. Needless to say, we didn't execute properly on that last drive either.

Ownership: Is Lerner watching? I wonder what he is thinking. Is he watching these games? I am, and I feel like crap. I won't feel better until we win our next game. Anyway, thank God for FF. At least I have a good chance to win on a weekly basis.
