I've decided that I'm going to sit back and laugh at the remainder of a Cleveland Browns season that began with such promiise and visions of post-season action play and mabe even a division title. I'm going to do this so as to avoid the alternative which is to drop to the floor, curl into a fetal position and engage in some good old fashioned chest heaving, snot-nosed, thumb-in-the-mouth sobbing.
Let's review, The 2008 season began with Derek Anderson as the starter coming off a break-out year and the Notre Dame wunderkind Brady Quinn waiting in wings. We had the quarterback position locked down. Wide Recievers? oh yeah, we had receivers. Braylon Edwards was catching everything but the flu last year. We added the the speedster Donte Stallworth and how about that Kellen Winslow.. The offensive line was tight and we shored up the defense with some veteran free agents. We were ready for prime time! Then the wheels fell off and we're 4-9 looking at 4-12. Actually in fairness I must say that only half the wheels fell off. You see, The Browns would be at least 8-5 right now if NFL games ended after the first thirty minutes of play. Unfortunatley, NFL games last AN HOUR! How many first half leads did we squander?
Derek Anderson quickly proved that all of magic was used up last year, so enter Brady Quinn the kid looked good till he broke his finger. Now they are both on the shelf and we are left with watching a third-string quarterback hurl bricks toward a receiver that suddenly can't catch. But hey, the defense is actually playing prretty well.
So anyway, I've decided that this seson is a lost cause so I'm just gonna sit back and laugh at the rest of the games then look toward next year when we'll put it all back together and make that serious playoff run that we missed this year.
